Vincent, the trader behind The Fun Trader

Hi, I'm Vincent

Day trader, entrepreneur and investor — the person behind The Fun Trader.

How I trade

I have been interested in the stock market since around 2006, and for a long time I only spent some time on it now and then. From around 2023 that changed: I started trading a lot more, and since 2024 almost every day.

I learned from many traders and books. The approach that suited me best came from Straydog: don't make it complicated. Wait for a clear rejection or confirmation at support and resistance, and trade the levels that react every day — the usual setups, early in the session, done the same way again and again.

Why I built these indicators

The levels that react most often — for example the pre-market high and low, the previous close and the previous session's high and low — had to be drawn on every chart, every day. That takes time, and with a family I don't always have it.

So I built indicators that do it for me. The goal: the right context on the screen at any moment, so I can spot a setup without any preparation.

Sometimes I start the trading software one minute before the US open. In the first five minutes price jumps off the pre-market low, I go long on the basis of what I have seen many times before — and sometimes, a quarter of an hour later, the first points are in and I can take my son to his swimming lesson.

By October 2026 more than 500 hours of building and testing had gone into Basics, Untested Levels and Straydog Zones & Levels, together with other tools and systems for (automated) trading. The indicators do the checking for you: every level is calculated from a clearly defined source — index closes, futures settlements, the main future — and converted to the chart you trade.

Outside the charts

I'm an (internet) entrepreneur and investor. I have built, sold, invested in and helped several million-dollar companies, also as an angel investor. I'm process-minded: I like to see the big picture and can zoom in on the smallest detail — and I love hard puzzles, like trading, trading indicators and automated trading.

With my family I live in the Netherlands and in South Africa. I love (wind)surfing, travelling and building things online — preferably all three together.

Off the charts: windsurfing.

Nothing on this site is financial advice. I share the tools I use myself; trading carries substantial risk of loss, so only trade with money you can afford to lose.
